Sanur Night Market, or as it is officially known Sindhu Market, is a collection of locally owned Balinese food carts and stalls. They cater to locals and tourists alike and are growing in popularity year on year.
During the day inside the market building, is where the daily wet markets or morning markets take place. It is a place for local Balinese to sell their poultry, fish, vegetables, fruit, flowers and more.
The night market Sanur is a place to sample authentic Indonesian and Balinese food cooked freshly in front of you. There are a variety of dishes from fresh seafood to old favourites of crispy chicken and duck, chicken satay and nasi goreng.
Our favourite things to eat at the night markets in Sanur are the chicken satays and the nasi goreng as I wrote about in this post. Authentic recipes so yummy flavours that are delicious.
This night market is Bali street food at it’s best. You order your food, watch it being prepared, then you’ll find a seat a communal plastic table and chairs. There is no air and graces here at this humble food market.
How to get to Sanur Night Markets

Depending on where you are staying in Sanur you can either walk, grab a Bluebird taxi or Go-Jek or ride a pushbike or motorbike.
When we have stayed in the southern end of Sanur, we grabbed a Go-Jek for a whole AUD$1.10 (USD 75c). We have also ridden a pushbike on an early morning market tour from southern Sanur.
It’s about a 10-minute walk to this Bali night market if you are staying near Sindhu beach. Soul on the Beach, Benno’s and Warung Amphibian are close by to this street just to help you with landmarks.
From Sindu beach walk up Jl. Pantai Sindhu. Take a left onto Jl. Danau Toba then first right onto Jl Danau Tamblingan. You’ll see the gates to the markets once you turn into Tamblingan.
Where are Sanur Night Markets?
The Sanur night and morning markets are located at the northern end of Sanur
Address: Jl. Pungutan No.2, Sanur
Opening hours: 4 pm – 10 pm or until the food is sold. Get there early, around 6 pm as it’s been reported that some stalls start packing up at 7.30 pm as they have sold out.
What is there to see at the Night Markets?
Apart from the food markets, you could do some Sanur shopping as there are also a few shops just outside the entry the markets. There are a few Balinese clothing stalls and a few rides for the (little) kids.
Are the Night Markets suitable for Adults and kids?
Yes, both. The Balinese love kids so don’t be afraid to take them along. There will be plenty of dishes to choose from that kids will love.

Ajanta Villas
Ajanta Villas is a short 1-minute walk from the night markets. It’s also a short walk to the beach and other restaurants and bars are close by.
The rooms are quite spacious although it has been reported a little dated and could do with a reno. Ajanta is suitable for both couples and families.
