A holiday in Bali wouldn’t be complete without a trip or two to a Bali Spa. With Bali spa prices being so cheap in comparison to prices at home, you can easily have a couple of Bali spa treatments per day.
Whilst I do have my favourite spa’s in Sanur, to name what I consider “the best” might not be fair to the remaining day spa’s. Stating “The best” is pretty subjective and everybody has their own perspective. Plus a therapist could be having an “off” day on the day you or I visit, which would definitely skew your view.
With over 1,000 day spas in Bali and over 60 day spas in Sanur, we have narrowed it down for you. Following, you’ll read about some of the most popular and most loved Sanur day spas.

Sadly, after 12 years this very popular day spa in Sanur closed its doors in late 2018. The Aroma Day Spa closed due to the rise of an exorbitant rent.
The Aroma Spa Sanur has since reopened in February 2019 under the name Prama Spa. The spa is now run under hotel management. Just like Aroma Spa open-air treatments are still available. You can indulge in a massage within a Bale right on the beachfront.
Initial feedback is that the therapists are of a high standard and the treatments are divine.
Although you may have searched for Glow Day Spa, this popular spa is named Glo Day Spa if you are searching online.
There is also a sister Glo Spa in Seminyak, however, the following is for Glo Spa Sanur.
In the downstairs area, you’ll find the reception and a full equipt hairdressing salon (managed by Australian Hair Stylist). A dedicated spray tan area and a lounge area complete with lounge chairs so you can totally relax while you enjoy a manicure or pedicure.
The whisper zone, where massages take place is upstairs. I found the massage room a little stark, not warm, inviting and relaxing at all.
The massage was adequate and the therapist attentive.
There are two Nest Spa Sanur. One is The Nest Beachside in the south end of Sanur on the beachfront. The other is The Nest Boutique Spa located in the north end of Sanur on the main street, JL Tamblingan.
I discovered The Nest beachside spa many years ago during one of our stays at the Fairmont Sanur.
Each time I visit Sanur my holiday ritual is three treatments from Nest beachside the day after arriving. A Balinese massage, a pro-collagen facial and pedicure.
This has become increasingly difficult as the years passed due to this spa in Sanur’s popularity. The word is well and truly out!
This year I thought I’d book before I left Australia, using the online booking system. However, it wasn’t possible due to a 50% deposit requirement.
After many years of honouring past appointments, never changing or missing an appointment this really irks me. I guess it’s a small price to pay (pun unintended) if you want an appointment.
Koa Shala Spa
Koa Shala is my new favourite spa in Sanur to spend a few hours.
You will find this day spa just a short walk between two buildings from the main road of Jl Tamblingan. You can see the entrance to Koa Shala from Tamblingan so it’s easy to find.
As you pass through the entrance you’ll see the spa to the left. It’s set amidst a beautiful tranquil Balinese garden.
Also on-site is an open-air yoga studio made from bamboo, complete with a thatched roof. With various tropical plants surrounding the studio, it’s the perfect setting to get your downward dog on.
Once inside the spa you’ll be met by the receptionist who will hand you a client card to fill in.
Soon afterwards cool lemongrass refreshments are served as you take in the beauty and the sanctuary of the spa. You’ll also enjoy a footbath before your treatment, then you’ll be shown to your private room for your treatment.
I had two visits to Koa Shala on my last visit to Sanur, I enjoyed every moment of both visits.
Koa Spa Sanur
Koa Boutique Spa sits at the northern end of Sanur and is the sister spa of Koa Shala.
There is a different menu of treatments with more traditional therapies in this Bali spa with the prices also reflecting this. The menu isn’t as extensive as that of the big sister Koa Shala.
Treatments include Herbal Poultice Massage and Sugar Body Scrubs and Coconut Milk Body Mask.
The therapists here have trained and worked in international resort spas.
There is a cute boutique next door stocking New Zealand designed clothing, silver jewellery and a variety of accessories.
Maya Resort & Spa
Set within the beautiful Maya Resort the Maya Spa offers a variety of speciality treatments. You’ll think you are gazing through a dinner menu, not a spa menu with the Exotic Lime & Ginger Scrub, Chocolate Boosters and Salt Mousse.
The ever-popular Biokos clean beauty products are used at Maya. As is Pevonia Botanical, a luxury, organic and professional range of skincare. I’ve had the pleasure of having a facial using the Pevonia products and they are simply divine.
Maya offers a range of packages so you can enjoy scrubs, massages, facials and reflexology during the course of a few hours.
This day spa targets the luxury traveller so be prepared to pay similar prices or more that you pay at home.
Parigata Resort and Spa
Lantana Spa is located within the small complex of the Parigata Resort and Spa.
Traditional treatments are this day spa’s focus combining contemporary techniques using the finest oils and aromatherapy.
Treatments include a variety of massages, facials, hair cream baths and blow drys. Body scrubs and nail treatments are also on the spa menu.
There are several packages also on offer.
Leha Leha Spa
If you are staying at the south end of Sanur this popular spa will suit you. Located on Jl Sudamala it is becoming increasingly popular.
Leha Leha Spa is well known for its great massages and excellent service. They cater to kids (under 12 massages) and Mumma’s-to-be with their pregnancy massages. De-stress, stone and Yogi Lomi massage are also featured.
All your favourite treatments are available including facials, manicures, pedicures plus they also do Shellac.
Several types of body scrubs are on the menu including green tea and coconut.
Cosmo Salon and Spa
With 6 types of massages on offer at Cosmo Spa, you are spoilt for choice. Choose from their signature massage, Thai massage through to Shiatsu.
Cream Baths using L’oreal conditioner and Thai foot reflexology also feature on their menu.
Cosmo also has a team of hairstylists who will cut, colour, perm and straighten your hair.
Sanctuary Beauty Salon and Spa
Sanctuary spa also has an impressive massage menu, including an Indian head massage.
They have the most extensive body scrub menu I’ve seen, including candlenut, ginger, tamarind, carrot and avocado.
Equally as impressive are the body wraps on offer. Seaweed, anti-cellulite, rose and cucumber wraps are provided.
The menu for facials includes collagen, aromatherapy and special acne facials.
Naturally, manicures and pedicures can also be enjoyed, with nail art and gel nails as a feature.
Waxing and packages are also offered.
Sanctuary also has a team of hairstylists who will look after your cut, colour, braiding, highlights, straightening and perming.
All services are at very good prices.
Chic Beauty Salon and Spa
The Chic day spa is renown for their excellent eyelash extensions. The service and quality gain the team at Chic 4.5 star reviews.
Although you can enjoy beauty treatments at Chic they are well known for their hairdressing skills too. Cuts, colours, lightening, blow-drying and hair extensions are available.
Chantara Wellness and Spa Sanur
Chantara Spas signature treatment consists of a heavenly foot treatment, body scrub and polish, relaxing massage and indulgent floral bath. This ritual and treatment will have you glowing and floating out in relaxed bliss.
Focusing on wellness and health only vegan, cruelty-free and organic aromatherapy and botanical products feature exclusive to Chantara Spa.
You’ll be spoilt for choice with the 6 different massages, salt glows, body wraps, facials, manicures and pedicures. A large selection of indulgent packages and rituals are featured too.
Jamu Wellness Spa
Jamu Spa takes a holistic approach with their treatments for overall wellness. Nestled within lotus ponds and frangipani’s, this intimate complex has a welcoming ambience.
There are single and double treatment rooms throughout the spa some with wet and dry areas.
The menu on offer is specifically designed for Jamu and features two treatments exclusive to the spa. With traditional and contemporary treatments of massages, facials, body scrubs, hand and feet care. Definitely add this spa to your list of “must try’s” for the best spa in Sanur.
